I have just attended 4 days of Folklife Festival, the best fest in the northwest, and I am inspired as I am every year to DO THINGS.
-Pick up the fiddle again, start not sucking
-Learn the banjo? At least enough to recognize chord structures and picking patterns
-No, just kidding, actually learn the banjo. Fo real.
-Study gypsy jazz/django chord progressions, learn some songs, so as to not suck next time you try to do a django djam.
-Adventure in cities more
-Wikipedia the SHIT out of: a)beer styles b)medeterranean herbs c)south american folk music d)african folk music e)zimbabwe history
-Learn the lyrics to all the bluegrass standards. especially shady grove.
-Spend more time out of folklife doing the folklife dance
-Talk to people who you want to talk to, even if it’s intimidating
-Always be kind to strangers and travelers
-Write a taiko song
Folklife: where I make resolutions that I might actually keep.
